With or without his weapon, the Kali practitioner is always "armed". Similar body mechanics are used whether he is holding his blade or fighting empty handed, albeit with minor adjustments. The biggest misconception about the Filipino Martial Arts is that it's just a weapons system.
Please excuse my self-indulgence, as the techniques shown were meant to satisfy my own fantasies about FMA.
My FMA background includes Rapido Realismo Kali, Modern Arnis, and some limited Pekiti Tirsia Kali and Dekiti Tirsia Siradas.
The terms Kali, Arnis and Eskrima all refer to the same art, the weapons-based fighting system indigenous to the Philippines. The Philippines is an island country composed of 7,100 islands, and different regions call the art differently, hence the different terms.
As a Filipino, I understand that the term “Panantukan” does not make much sense in the context of the Filipino language, but I feel it has come into common usage that whether we like it or not, the term is here to stay.
