An audiobook of Canto 12, Canto 13, and Canto 14 of Dante's epic poem The Inferno, from the Divine Comedy, as translated by Longfellow. The video includes Longfellow's line-by-line annotations, and classic fine art spanning centuries illustrating the manuscript.
In these Cantos, Dante and his guide Virgil visit the souls who are in the seventh circle of hell, condemned for violence.
Canto 12: Violence against Others.
Canto 13: Violence against Self.
Canto 14: Violence against God, Art, and Nature.
In this read aloud version of one of the pillars of all literature, we journey with Dante through the punishments of the underworld, as told over 700 years ago. In addition to the audiobook, we'll be including as many of Longfellow's footnotes as possible, plus a few notes by the narrator (Longfellow doesn't always explain who all the namedropped ancient philosophers are). The video features artworks spanning the centuries, from ancient Greek sculpture through modern day video games.
