September is Suicide Prevention Awareness Month. "The purpose of September is to bring awareness that it's OK if people are struggling through something but also [that] there are folks you can talk to," said W. Brandon Hinton, Henrico County's deputy county manager for Administration.
Hinton lost his father, Bill Hinton, to suicide in 2019. "I encourage anyone who feels like they need to talk to someone to talk to someone so that your loved ones don't have to go through what my family has gone through," he said.
