NHGRI Director Eric Green remembers the origin of the word "genomics" in the late 1980s. About this same time, Dr. Green decided to pursue his postdoctoral clinical training in laboratory medicine in the lab of Maynard Olson - a pioneer in the field of genomics and an architect of the Human Genome Project.
October 1, 2020, marks the 30th anniversary of the launch of the Human Genome Project. Prominent members of the genomics community have joined NHGRI in commemorating and celebrating this occasion by taking their own selfie videos.
