Every now and then I repost reels that really show my personality or taste in travel destinations. This reel I did a long while ago and since then a lot of new travelers started watching, so this one is for all of you!
Why do I think Paris, Barcelona, Venice, Amsterdam, and Brussels are overrated?
First of all: all of these cities share a couple positive things. They’re beautiful, they all have tremendous history, and it’s definitely possible to have a great time in them (so don’t let this video stop you from visiting them in your life).
However I don’t like traveling to them.
Some of these cities are, in my opinion (!), worse than others. In Barcelona and Venice I had a relatively decent time, but that was just because I decided to explore those cities early in the morning.
I don’t like big cities when:
1. They’re overcrowded
2. They’re Expensive
3. They’re filled with pickpockets and scammers
4. They’re filled with tourist traps
5. The streets are full of trash
6. Everywhere smells like urine
7. They have a homeless problem
The places that I’m telling you to go instead have none of these problems and are perfectly safe to visit (also for beginner solo travelers).
They’re just as beautiful (if not more) than the overrated places, but you won’t get robbed or scammed and you won’t have to avoid stepping on drug needles when walking the streets.
Because they’re all the same country they’re not MUCH cheaper, but you’ll usually get better quality for your money because they don’t have nearly enough tourist traps in these places.
