The Northrop F-20 Tigershark was a lightweight fighter aircraft designed for export in the late 1970s and early 1980s. It was intended to be an economical and highly capable aircraft for countries seeking advanced fighter capabilities. The F-20 was based on the earlier F-5E Tiger II, with improvements such as a more powerful engine, modern avionics, and increased fuel capacity. Despite its advanced features and successful performance in demonstrations, the F-20 did not attract enough orders to enter full-scale production. Only three prototypes and a pre-production batch were built, and the program was eventually canceled in the mid-1980s.
