New podcast! And last episode of 2024, featuring a toxicologist reacts episode with Lyle Burgoon, PhD - this time we covered the recent Huberman podcast featuring Shanna Swan PhD... The misinformation in the episode was rapid fire, and it's really striking to see the origin of much of the phthalate fear mongering - e.g. Yvonne Burkhart is clearly a fan. There was a lot in this episode - from phthalates = endocrine disruptors?, to feminization and "risks of human extinction" due to these chemicals? Definitely a must listen! Big thank you to Lyle for taking so much time for this review!

I think this clip was my top takeaway. Right now, the fact checking we're doing in the sci-comm community isn't working. There's just too much to keep up with, especially when the social media algorithms are actively working against accuracy and there's so little support to independent sci-comm as is. How do we push the needle to have a chance addressing the misinformation? This also came up towards the end of the episode. Curious to hear other takes on this!
