This video looks at the tensions within Germany which took place in the late 1950s and the early 60s. With West Germany an exemplary capitalist state and there being a geographical loophole in West Berlin, Khrushchev and Walter Ulbricht were forced to do something. Firstly, they sent their ultimatum to the US in the Berlin Crisis before building the Berlin Wall in 1961.
