NDC ENERGY / PERU´S CLIMATE ACTION
Rubí is the largest solar power plant in Peru, with a capability of generating as much power as the consumption of 350,000 houses. Located in the region of Moquegua, it is an example of how the country drives its transition to clean energy, based on sustainable natural resources - such as the sun and wind - which are of the highest quality in Peru. The so-called “non- conventional renewable energy” reduces electricity costs, vulnerability and helps “decarbonize” the economy. Rubí is a agship project because it avoids the emission of 210,000 tons of CO2 annually into the atmosphere.
Can you imagine an area equivalent to four hundred football elds, lying next to each other, absorbing as many rays of the sun as possible?
