The 2017 Global Environmental Microbiology (GEM) students present: 15 Second Science!
Shotgun sequencing by Kristina Kaypaghian
“Did you know that scientists study genomes like solving a puzzle? Through shotgun sequencing an entire genome is broken into small DNA fragments. Each fragment is sequenced then a computer program reassembles all the pieces of DNA together.”
*The GEM course is an undergraduate summer program run by the Center for Dark Energy Biosphere Investigations (C-DEBI: [ Ссылка ]) which is funded by the National Science Foundation.
*Thanks to Delaware Sea Grant and their Project VIDEO for the inspiration! See more 15 Second Science (and other) videos here: [ Ссылка ]
