NOT A "How To" Video. JaxHacks is not responsible for Your Vehicle. Rig Your Car At Your Own Risk!... Example of a 2019 Nissan Rogue Sport. Universal Radiator/Cooling Fan Replacement.
Fan stopped working causing overheating. Complaint was "no A/C when stopped at a traffic light". I checked all fuses first, as well as testing the current from the connector so I was SURE the problem was the Fan Motor.
Dealership said no OEM radiator fans available for months and $450 each!? Affordable aftermarket cooling fans for this vehicle are all Out Of Stock?!
***DO NOT ATTEMPT THIS UNLESS YOU ARE PRO AT CRAZY REDNECK MACGYVER STUFF***
We really needed the vehicle for work the next day. So... this is what I did:
1) Removed Fan and Shroud Assembly
2) Removed Factory Connector from Original Fan Motor (took some grinding, bending, breaking, more grinding)(also there was a tiny blue resistor between the neg/pos terminals... yeah... I removed that lil blue thing) (also I cut off the little side tab coming off of the ground terminal)
3) Cut Factory Fan Frame, leaving 1 1/4 inch. (removed broken fan while leaving some legs to use as new fan attachment points)
4) Drilled 5 mount holes through Universal Fan Frame and OEM Shroud then Bolted Universal Fan to the Factory Shroud Frame.
5) Soldered Factory Connector to Universal Fan Wiring. (I connected black/ground to tab 2, this was important for spinning direction to be pulling air)
*Some universal fans are pusher fans that can be reversed by flipping the fan and reversing the wiring... Definitely Simpler to Get a fan that is already a Puller Fan!*
6) Reinstalled Universal Fan with Factory Shroud. 🤙
