Nepal Announces Printing of New 100-Rupee Note With Map Including Indian Areas
Row erupts over Nepal's 100 rupee note that will include the country's new political map which was updated in June 2020. The new Nepal map includes the Indian areas of Lipulekh, Limpiyadhura & Kalapani. In 2020, Nepal incorporated the three strategically important Indian areas into its map. New Delhi calls the decision a "unilateral act" and condemned Kathmandu's "artificial enlargement" of territorial claims. Nepal has now decided to print the new map on its 100-rupee note. The decision was taken during a cabinet meeting chaired by Nepal PM Pushpakamal Dahal "Prachanda". Nepal shares a border of over 1,850 kilometres with five Indian states.
