Ahead of the BRICS summit in Russia, India and China have agreed on further normalisation of military relations along the restive line of actual control in eastern Ladakh. This development, which may lead to full disengagement of the military at the India-China frontier, follows recent negotiations between officials of both nations. Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri revealed that Indian and Chinese negotiators have been in contact over the past few weeks to resolve remaining issues along the LAC in Ladakh. This comes after the tense relations following the Galwan Valley clash in June 2020.
