Machine learning and artificial intelligence has seen a wide array of applications in the past few years, from autonomous driving to natural language processing. The Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT) has enabled connectivity and visibility to the manufacturing operations. The machine process monitoring and the data collection through IIoT provides a way to implement machine learning and artificial intelligence to optimize manufacturing operations, improve productivity, and monitor machine health for condition-based maintenance.
This panel brings together a diverse group of experts from the government, industry, and academia to discuss methods and challenges for the application of machine learning and artificial intelligence to manufacturing. Discussions focus on the ways to collect and store data, applications in manufacturing for machine learning, explainable machine learning, cyber-security, and challenges and hurdles in implementation at small and medium-sized manufacturers.
