Bridgend (Pen-y-bont) is located on the South Wales Mainline between Cardiff and Swansea, it is also located just junction of lines from Barry and also Maesteg.
The station is also a few miles east of Margam Knuckle Yard which is primarily used for the movement of steel and other bi products from the major steel works at Port Talbot, and as a stabling point for freight services in the area.
The station is made up of 4 platforms. 2 through platforms and 2 bay platforms although one of these isn't currently in use, the station is managed by Transport For Wales and sees about 5 trains a hour in each direction, these are made up of local services and high speed Great Western Railway services heading to Swansea or London Paddington.
