Video: CAIR Director Joins D.C. Discussion of ‘Syrian Refugees: The Past, Present and Future’
(WASHINGTON, D.C., 2/19/16) – CAIR National Executive Director Nihad Awad spoke yesterday at an evening event hosted by the Global Policy Institute (GPI) at the National Press Club in Washington, D.C., focusing on “Syrian Refugees: The Past, Present and Future.”
The theme of Awad’s presentation was “The Syrian Refugee Crisis: America’s Role.” In his presentation, Awad said: "The short term solution is to take care of the refugees. . .I urge my government to open its arms, and open its mind, and strengthen the tradition of America being a generous and open society to all those who need it.”
Other speakers included Enver Yucel, chairman of the board of Bahcesehir Ugur Education Organization (BAU), Ambassador of the Arab League Salah Sarhan, Ambassador of Palestine at the United Nations Riad Mansour, Halil Mutlu, board member of Turken Foundation, and Professor Selcuk Sirin from New York University.
Event attendees include a number of diplomats, elected officials, scholars, community leaders, and students.
