Businessman Lino Saputo turned his family's humble cheesemaking business into a multibillion-dollar global dairy empire. But the Montreal cheese magnate has also been dogged by allegations of having ties to organized crime. In his autobiography published in the fall of 2019, Saputo devotes an entire chapter to disputing the claims. But new evidence unearthed by Radio-Canada's investigative program, Enquête, reveals that between 1964 and 1979 Saputo maintained a relationship with one of the most powerful U.S. mobsters, Joe Bonnano.
Originally aired on Enquête in French on Jan. 16, 2020.
