One word. Anchovy. Don’t make that face, yeah that face, until I show you a REVOLUTIONIZED way of eating anchovies in this Italian grilled cheese sandwich, also known as mozzarella in carrozza, which means mozzarella in a carriage. Don't you love some comfort food in the form of a grilled cheese sandwich? Try this recipe out. This new way of eating anchovies will change your life FOREVER! And can you ever get enough capers? Not likely. How about some fantastic tomato soup to go with your grilled cheese? See below in the "Links and Resources" section.
INGREDIENTS
1 can of anchovies
1-2 slices FRESH mozzarella (this is the watery moist kind, not the kind you traditionally put on pizza)
Really good bread (watch these videos to learn how to make your own bread: [ Ссылка ])
Capers for garnish
Olive oil for frying
METHOD:
Melt anchovies in a pan over LOW heat (any higher and they will fry. We want to MELT, not fry)
Crack one egg and whisk together with 2 teaspoons of milk
Layer a slice or two of fresh mozzarella on that really good bread you made. (links provided below)
Dip it and cover it on all sides in the egg/milk mixture.
Don’t allow it to sit for too long (1 minute each side) or else the sandwich will fall apart when you cook it.
Over medium high heat, pour olive oil in pan and wait until it gets hot.
Carefully place sandwich in the oil.
Brown on all sides. If it gets too smoky, reduce heat to medium.
Sandwich is finished when cheese is ooey and gooey.
Put sandwich on plate and drizzle anchovy sauce all over it.
Garnish with capers.
Eat it ALL!
