Inspiration behind this video:

In 2022, Tom Cruise returned to the spotlight when he appeared in Top Gun: Maverick, an unexpected sequel that took the world by storm, and also, made it possible for other successful Tom Cruise films like Oblivion to get their long-awaited sequel. Tom Cruise starred in the sci-fi movie, Oblivion, back in 2013. The film was directed by Joseph Kosinski, and based on his very own unpublished graphic novel. The film sees Cruise portray a maintenance technician in 2077 who stumbles upon a woman in a spaceship crash and starts to second guess everything he knows.

While a sequel is not always the best route for a movie, Oblivion seems like a good choice. First and foremost, this is because Tom Cruise has proved that he can bring a franchise back to life, even after 36 years, as shown by Top Gun: Maverick. Furthermore, the success of Top Gun: Maverick helps Oblivion as well. Since the sequel did so well, that means that any other Tom Cruise films or sequels could have a built-in audience. And, Top Gun aside, Oblivion establishes a very interesting sci-fi world that has plenty of opportunity for expansion.
