* Revelou que era um "bissexual secreto" e admitiu ser infiel à sua esposa com homens e mulheres.
* Em 1975 matou um vizinho idoso ao dirigir embriagado e lutou muito contra o vício do álcool.
* Morreu aos 65 anos, após sofrer uma parada cardíaca em sua casa em Londres. O laudo de um legista concluiu que sua morte foi por "uma combinação de causas naturais". Ele tinha doença cardiovascular e hipertensão, pelo menos parcialmente causada por anos de abuso de drogas e álcool.
