In this episode of Navigating Academia, Dr. Singh discusses what a day in the life of an Oxford student is like. Specifically what a day in MY life was like when I attended Oxford as

I never planned on going to Oxford but I ended up getting my DPhil from Oxford in 2011. DPhil is kind of like a Ph.D. so it's a doctoral degree and mine was specifically in the field of Psychiatry.

I am going to share with you what life was like for me when I attended Oxford. Is Oxford hard? Yes, it is. I have so many experiences and it really is a place that is like no other University that I have encountered. If you are planning on going to Oxford as a graduate student, in terms of doing the work it's going to be rough and traumatizing. It may be one of the most difficult things you go through. But when you're done and you've repressed all those memories, then it becomes a really magical place and you do have a lot of really cherished memories when you're done.

🚩About Dr. Singh

Jay Phoenix Singh, PhD, PhD is a Fulbright Scholar, faculty at both UPenn as well as Cambridge, and the internationally award-winning Founder of the Global Institute of Forensic Research (successful 2017 exit as CEO).

Author of over 75 peer-reviewed articles and books, he completed his graduate doctoral studies in psychiatry at the University of Oxford and clinical psychology at Universitat Konstanz. He was named the youngest tenured Full Professor in Norway in 2014 and, since this time, has become the only psychology professor to have lectured for all eight Ivy League universities (Harvard, Yale, Princeton, Columbia, Cornell, Brown, Dartmouth, UPenn) as well as both Oxford and Cambridge. Dr. Singh is a charismatic academic mentor and coach who uses evidence-based practices to improve the lives of academics of all levels.
