Hey everyone! Grab your running shoes and water bottles because we just went to one of the most awaited events of the year: the Dubai Run 2024! And spoiler alert: it was a marathon of memories with a side of sweat!
We rolled out of bed at 4:00 AM, which, let me tell you, is not part of my regular weekend “sleep in” routine. I mean, the last time I was up this early was to catch a flight.
We met up with our friends at the Metro, high-fiving like we just won an Olympic gold medal. The energy? Let’s just say it was a solid 1000%. This is Dubai, after all!
Now, last year, around this time, I was in the Philippines mourning my dad’s passing. It’s amazing how life comes full circle; from mourning to running in the desert! So big shutout to Lord for another year and for my amazing friends who dragged me out of the house at the crack of dawn!
Oh, and of course—classic us—no T-shirts because we registered late. Seriously, it's like our life motto: “Running late for everything, including runs!” But hey, who needs matching outfits when you have friends willing to run with you dressed as if we just returned from a laundry mishap?
Dubai knows how to throw a party! They had DJs pumping up the beats, ambulances on standby, police everywhere—like a high-tech escort just for us! And let’s not forget the water stations, courtesy of Mai Dubai. Stay hydrated, folks!
Let's talk about how excellent Dubai organised this event.
And yes, portable washrooms! Because nothing screams “exciting event” like knowing you won’t have to pee behind a bush in front of the Future Museum!
We started off at the Future Museum, Now, we only registered for the 5km, but surprise! Our special talent is walking—why run when you can leisurely stroll and gossip, right?
Seeing families and companies together made my heart swell! And can we talk about how safe Dubai is? I’ve never been able to confidently whip out my phone in a crowd like this. In other places, my phone would’ve been picked faster than a toddler can say “Mine!”
But halfway through, our energy dipped to a solid 50%. It would be better if there's a sign for every km that we could finish..
But we crossed that finish line feeling like champions.
*Now, let's talk about the aftermath! We ended up walking a whopping 9.36 km! That’s right—a “5km” that turned into an epic adventure, complete with a post-run trek to the Metro for a grand total of 2 and a half hours of fitness… or stumbling.
And guess what? After burning those 1,000 calories, we needed to replenish—so where did we go? The Pancake House! Because obviously, it’s time to swap those lost calories for a 2,000-calorie brunch. Balance, right?
**Dubai:** A spectacular celebration of fitness unfolded on Sunday as thousands of enthusiasts came together for the Dubai Run 2024, the world’s largest free fun run, illuminating the iconic Sheikh Zayed Road. Participants of every fitness level transformed the thoroughfare into a vibrant, energetic running track, creating an unforgettable community spectacle. In an inspiring display of solidarity, Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, the Crown Prince of Dubai and Deputy Prime Minister of the UAE, took the lead among a record-breaking 278,000 runners—a remarkable 23 percent increase from last year’s event. This extraordinary gathering showcased not only the passion for fitness but also the unparalleled spirit of togetherness that defines Dubai.
So, the verdict? We absolutely loved it and plan to make this a yearly tradition. I mean, when life gives you lemons, make lemon pancakes, am I right?
Thanks for joining us on this adventure! Don’t forget to subscribe for more shenanigans! And remember: whether you're running, walking, or just avoiding all forms of exercise, let’s keep it fun! See you in the next video!
