Simon injured himself whilst on exercise as a Royal Marine Commando and ended up as an assistant caretaker in a school. His first lucky break was when the headmaster believed in him and suggested PE teaching. He didn’t have a degree and couldn’t afford to quit his job and go into full time education at the same time. He soon realized that The Open University (OU) was the best option to help him succeed. He found the OU and tutors massively supportive. Graduating with a BSc (Honours) Sport, Fitness and Coaching gave him a massive sense of achievement. He was given a second chance and the opportunity to have a new career. He is now a PE teacher and in his dream job!
