We continue our journey of restoring the brakes on a 1978 Yamaha XS1100 that has been sitting for over 20 years. In this video, we focus on rebuilding the rear master cylinder, which is responsible for applying hydraulic pressure to the brake pads.
We start by removing the master cylinder from the bike and disassembling it to inspect its condition. We then clean and polish the master cylinder piston and rebuild the cylinder using new seals and O-rings. We also replace the brake fluid and bleed the brake system to ensure optimal performance.
Throughout the video, we offer detailed explanations and step-by-step instructions for each stage of the rebuild process. We also provide tips and tricks for working on vintage motorcycles and troubleshooting common issues that may arise during the restoration process.
