The Sasakawa Peace Foundation has invited Mr. Robert Einhorn, Senior Fellow at the Brookings Institution to give a lecture on "The Iran Nuclear Issue: Can Negotiations Succeed?", in Tokyo on December 3rd, 2013.
The international community has been concerned about Iran's developing uranium enrichment, which would enable it to attain the nuclear weapons, and thus, the U.S., EU, China, and Russia took diplomatic initiatives to resolve the issue. Several years after the negotiation deadlock and conducting economic sanctions on Iran, the recent Six Party Talks with Iran in Geneva have been reported to foresee a great progress between Iran and the international community in the future. Based on the background, Mr. Einhorn provided his recent analysis on the issue and discussed about the future direction of the negotiations based on his own experiences deeply involved in the U.S. negotiation process toward Iran.
