The Great Sphinx of Giza is located on the Giza plateau in Egypt, just by the great pyramids. Although it is one of the oldest, largest, and most famous sculptures in the world, very little is known for certain about its construction and history. Carved from the bedrock of the plateau, the Sphinx has spent most of its history buried up to its neck in sand. Is there more to this colossal sculpture than meets the eye?
