This is my reaction, analysis and breakdown of Ariana Grande singing ‘No Tears Left to Cry,’ live in the live lounge for Vevo. I am a jazz and R&B singer, vocal coach, music educator and baritone saxophone player. This is my reaction as a vocal coach and singer myself. I loved the sweetener era of Ariana Grande, including the high ponytail and pastel color palette hahaha. Ariana gets a great, clear, darker colored mixed belt and this song is very dynamic in its energy and sound. This performance uses a lot of different vocal tones and is a great demonstration of her voice, even if it isn’t the most showy in terms of super high mixes and runs. Ariana Grande is an influence of mine, along with Mariah Carey and Whitney Houston. I am probably more influenced by jazz singers like Ella Fitzgerald, Cyrille Aimee and Sarah Vaughan. So I don’t use these super mixy placements and there is a lot of air in my voice. I’m working on getting them to be clearer and more powerful though! Let me know if you’d like some more reactions to this series of performances. I’m looking forward to making more videos. Don’t forget to like, comment, subscribe!
