It is a beautiful thing to know and cherish American history, and Louisiana has the most flamboyant history in all of America
This is a great educational documentary about New Orleans Creole Society after the Civil War and the effects it had on them, Edgar degas; Famous French Painter of Paris had Louisiana Creole Roots his mother was a Creole, but he was born in France and His Mother had died when he was very young, therefore New Orleans seemed like an Afterthought, faraway and exotic, Sometime in the 1870s degas decided to visit his Louisiana Branch of the family and he was deeply moved by the colorful atmosphere of New Orleans, he painted portraits of his Creole Cousins (In which the Documentary states that they reminded him of his Mother and that they had a perfume scent not fully faded-and that Creole women were more gentle then mainland French women)
This is a beautiful documentary and a Love letter to old Creole New Orleans
It’s amazing to see the Strong ties Louisiana maintained with France well into the later 19th century ⚜️🇳🇱
