INGREDIENTS
1kg fresh cassava
1/4 cup melted margarine or butter
1/2 cup condensed milk
1/3 cup sugar (add more if needed)
cheese toppings
DIRECTIONS
Wash and peel the cassava. Cut into smaller pieces and remove the root-like part at the center of the cassava. casava-for-Nilupak
Steam or boil the cassava pieces until they are soft but not too soggy. Do the fork test from time to time to check the softness of the cassava pieces.
Mash the soft cassava pieces using a fork or a potato masher. Transfer the mashed cassava in a large mixing bowl and then add the melted butter, white sugar and the condensed milk.
Mix and mash the ingredients until smooth and very sticky.
Transfer the nilupak in a greased tray or banana leaf and shape as you desire.
Decorate the top of the nilupak by adding textures using a fork. Top with cheese and ground peanuts.
