Nobody wanted to come along as a passenger last Sunday, so as the ceiling was well above 5000 ft (basically non-existent except for a bit of cirrus probably above FL 200) I took the opportunity to fly solo and do some airwork: 45 degree steep turns (turned out pretty good with far less than 50 ft altitude loss) a few attempts at 60-degree steep turns (much less successfull), and some power-off stalls. You can see that the Morane does not break or lower the nose, but just develops a sink rate of around 700 fpm with the nose high. Due to the automatic slats it remains fully controllable even with the ailerons, although the standard technique of using only the rudder for lateral control is recommended. Had a ton of fun.
I also tested the climb rate at altitude, and at FL 50 it's only 200 fpm with full tanks and single occupant. I don't expect to be able to get far above FL 65 or so with a passenger, but I'll try it some day.
I left it oblique on purpose so that the attitude indicator remains in view.
