"Industrial" agriculture generally tends to simplify the land community (eliminate species) ...when you do that you create instability ...you become responsible for all the services that the community once provided for itself, when it was diverse. When were spending money in agriculture to keep things productive, or high yielding, were actually filling in for what the natural world does for itself.
