When I became a parent, I had an idea of what my life would be like. But after actually becoming a Dad, there were some things that caught me off guard.

1. The amount of laundry kids go through. Small kids means small clothes, which should mean that there isn’t much laundry to do. WRONG! I don’t know how he does it, but my kid goes through so much clothing in one week. It’s like he is wearing 5 different things each day. Or maybe he is just putting clean clothes in his laundry bin. I don’t know what it is, but there’s a ton of it.

2. Clipping nails - I don’t know why I didn’t think of this, but this is something parents help kids with. And honestly, it was very strange to do the first couple times, I don’t know why, but helping a kid with clipping their nails was just weird. After a few times, it has become more normal, but still a bit strange.

3. Dealing with Picky Eaters. I thought that I would be one of those parents that would say the only food my child gets is the food I prepare for them. After a bit of stubbornness showdown, I decided it was not worth the battle. We have found healthy options that my son enjoys, so we make sure that he has those throughout the week. Lesson here is to prepare to change your mindset on things and focus on what really matters.
