Coming in today with yet another grandmas special! This spicy peanut powder is so easy to make and it’s incredibly delicious. It’s always there in my fridge for those days I miss home food. Sometimes I even sprinkle it on my eggs and it’s soooo good!
You’re going to love it so here’s the recipe
Ingredients -
175g Raw Peanuts
3 tbsp any Vegetable oil
4.5 tsp Dhaniya
5-7 Dried Red Chillies (depending on your spice preference)
Small bunch of Fresh curry leaves or Karvepaku
3.5 tsp Jeera or cumin seeds
17 small Garlic pods
1 tbsp Tamarind or Chintha pandu
1/2 tsp Turmeric
In a pan, add 175g of raw peanuts and dry roast them for a few minutes and transfer them to a bowl. Crush them to remove most of the skins but not all.
In the same pan, add 3 tbsp of oil and add 4 1/2 tsp of dhaniya or coriander seeds and stir for 30 seconds after which we’re going to add 5-7 dried red chillies, small bunch of fresh curry leaves or karvepaku and stir for 30 seconds.
Next we’re going to add 3 1/2 tsp of Jeera or cumin seeds and stir again.
Add 12-15 garlic pods, 1 tbsp of tamarind, 1/2 tsp turmeric and stir well for a few minutes or until everything is nicely toasted.
Transfer this to a bowl and add 1/2 tsp of salt and leave it to cool.
Now it’s time to blend. Transfer this to a blender and blitz a few times in short intervals until it becomes a fine powder.
To this, we’ll add the roasted peanuts, mix well and blitz again in short intervals until everything combines and turns into a fine powder.
Transfer this to your serving dish and enjoy!
