A draft Security Council Resolution demanding an immediate humanitarian ceasefire in Gaza is expected to be put to a vote today and draw a US veto in the process.
The resolution was drawn up by Algeria, which is the Arab representative on the council.
Washington's envoy has been steadfast in her view that any action in the council would undermine efforts to secure a new hostage deal between Israel and Hamas.
