The Biblical Genesis creation narrative includes an odd hebrew word 'Tehom' which is related to and originates from the word Tiamat. Tiamat is a sea dragon/serpent Mesopotamian/Babylonian Goddess of chaos, most famously depicted in the Enuma Elish where she is slain by Marduk, who then uses her corpse to create the world and heavens. This heavily indicates that authors of The Bible were influenced by previous creation myths when they wrote the book of Genesis and others.
This is somewhat of an experimental series I am considering doing on Biblical mythology and how it relates to older mythology, so if this interests you and you wish to see more, hit the like button and I'll make a part 2.
