The Corpse Reviver No. 2 was originally conceived as a hair-of-the-dog, morning cocktail to help kick-start your day and quash your pounding head by feeding it the cool, calming elixir it needs to tolerate the realities of the world swirling around outside. It's a fight fire with fuel approach that only works if you're never planning on returning to the cold, harsh state of existence known as sobriety.

I can't vouch for the effectiveness of this drink in the morning, but it makes for a great cocktail at happy hour. It's three-quarters alcohol but goes down like a glass of cool lemonade on a hot day. If you tend to have a sweet-tooth, go for the Lillet version. Personally, I prefer the slightly more complex flavor profile of the Cocchi Americano, which helps brighten up this drink. A drier gin works best. The St. George Dry Rye Gin is the perfect compliment to the sweeter flavors of the triple sec and Cocchi Americano/Lillet Blanc. For the triple sec, Cointreau is the clear choice. Also, St. George makes the greatest, most complex absinthe, Absinthe Verte. Just as when you're making a Sazerac ([ Ссылка ]), you want to use an atomizer to coat the inside of the glass. When all you need is a rinse, there's no need to dump out expensive and perfectly good absinthe if you don't have to. You can pick up an atomizer at the makeup store of the local mall or any number of places online (see link below). They are cheap and come in all sorts of designs to fit your style.

This cocktail is sure to be crowd pleaser no matter if you decide to mix one up as a night cap or as a day-drink. Bottoms up and leave behind a good looking corpse. Cheers!



Recipe:
.75 oz Gin
.75 oz Lemon Juice
.75 oz Triple Sec (Cointreau specifically)
.75 oz Cocchi Americano (or Lillet Blanc)
rinse Absinthe

Shake all ingredients except Absinthe with ice.
Rinse cocktail glass with Absinthe
Strain cocktail straight up into Absinthe-rinsed glass
