4. SOUNDBITE (English) Rick Putnam, supporter:
"I think we are probably putting so much into this war, not showing any recognition back towards Vietnam and all the other wars we've had in the past, they are more or less recognising this one going on now, but I still think we don't need to forget about the past, because we wouldn't be here if it wasn't for them."

All of these kids are over there giving us the right to do what we do everyday and without those kids, without taking care of those kids....(shakes head), you know? And I just want to bring...make sure everybody, by taking this bike around, making everybody aware that we got wounded guys still sitting in hospitals from Vietnam, from Korea, that could use some help."

STORYLINE
Tens of thousands of motorcycles roared through Washington DC on Sunday as part of the "Rolling Thunder" Memorial Day weekend ride.
The event is staged annually in honour of military veterans who were prisoners of war, went missing in action, were killed in action and of all others who served or are still serving in the armed forces.
Sunday's riders gathered at the Pentagon and made a circuit through the nation's capital before gathering at the Vietnam veterans memorial on the Mall.
Many of the riders and supporters who lined the streets served in wars past.
But for one rider, Sunday was part of a personal journey to let people not forget what is going on in the current war in Iraq.
Larry Tremblay Sr. lost his son in April 2005.
He built a a motorbike to remember his 23-year-old son and others killed in Iraq.
"All of these kids are over there giving us the right to do what we do everyday," he told AP Television.
An estimated 30-thousand motorcyclists took part in the ride.
