Airbags don’t deploy on all front end collisions. I’ve seen a lot of people on Reddit asking things like “shouldn’t my airbag have gone off” and no, it shouldn’t have. Airbags are dangerous. They deploy in 40ish milliseconds. I’m going to flash the screen white for 40ms. And in that time, the airbag travels from here to here. They’re dangerous. And usually airbags go off in a forward collision - the airbag is coming this way while your head is going this way. 600ish people are killed by airbags a year, so manufacturers really don’t want the airbag going off unless it’s absolutely necessary. If the deceleration is low enough it won’t cause major harm, the airbag won’t go off.
