Turkey is angling to be one of the first countries to rebound their tourism industry by leading the way in so-called ‘healthful tourism.’ The Ministry of Culture and Tourism is intensely lobbying to attract foreign visitors and convince them that Turkey is a safe destination through a ‘Healthy Tourism Certification’ program for individual hotels, airlines, airports, transport services, and restaurants. But some residents fear the program will be successful--and that tourism will increase the spread of the virus.
