Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao today left for national capital Delhi. He will stay put in Delhi for two days on June 6 and 7. KCR, the first CM of Telangana, is making an official visit to Centre and will call on Prime Minister Narendera Modi, President Pranab Mukherjee and several ministers.
He will seek Central funds for the 29th state of Telangana and also total cooperation in developing the newly carved out state on par with others. It may be recalled that Modi has extended total support to Telangana while congratulating KCR on taking over as first CM. During his Delhi sojourn, Telangana CM is expected to mount pressure on the Centre against allotment of seven tribal mandals of Polavaram in Khammam district to residuary Andhra Pradesh. Besides, KCR is to seek Central assistance in every project and scheme to be taken up and implemented. It is likely that KCR may complain to PM and President that despite separation, Naidu is trying to show upper hand in Telangana at the behest of Union Minister M Venkaiah Naidu. It is pertinent to note that KCR has accused TD Chief of colluding with Venkaiah for dominance on the region. Thus they together pressed the centre to get presidential approval while tribals are stiffly opposing the merger.
Other issues that may crop up during KCR's trip may include seeking Central assistance for power projects, special status to Telangana and adequate package, additional quota of power to cater to the growing demands, proposed special railway zone and central funds ought to be given to 29th state of Telangana.
