The game is set in the floating city of Hekseville. The story begins with the player character, a girl called Kat ("Kitten" in Japan), who has lost her memory. She then runs into a mysterious black cat she names "Dusty" that gives her the power to control gravity. Kat uses this ability in order to protect people from the threat of a gravity storm and the Nevi monsters that have appeared along with it. On her way she meets Raven, another "gravity shifter". At first, Raven is Kat's rival, even though we don't know why. Later in the story we get the explanation as to who Raven actually is and why she was fighting Kat. Kat falls down the "pillar" and meets Raven one more time. This time though they need each other's help to go back to Hekseville. After that they team up. On their way back, Raven got separated from Kat. When Kat finally arrived to Hekseville she noticed that Mayor D'Nelica had taken over. Only Kat can save Hekseville, but she needs her friend's help.
