A family members ML430 had a droopy tailgate which would not stay up after 22 years. This ML is from 1997-2005 and was the w163. The replacement of the struts with original parts (163 740 03 35) is shown which fixes the problem, and all done in about 10 minutes! Please note im not a mechanic, just a hobbyist so do as you see fit. Be careful if working by yourself as these rear doors on the ML are very heavy!
