Don’t take the infamous Kandy to Ella train 😱…unless you enjoy standing for hours, getting crammed in like sardines and battling the crowds just to experience those stunning Ella views. Instead head to Ella itself and while you’re there, take the first Ella to Badulla train at 6am one morning to have the carriages, windows and doors all to yourself for a peaceful 1 hour ride that actually goes OVER the Nine Arches unlike all the other trains 🥳
Tickets cost LKR 60 (USD 0.20) each way - we recommend the unreserved class to get all the feels. Beware though, that the journey back from Badulla is already likely to be getting busy (check out the crowds at the end of the reel 😂) so enjoy those quiet moments on the way there! 🥳
