In fact, she would have a tremendous amount of disdain for the designation for the longest time. To her credit, it must be incredibly difficult to grow up with everyone thinking that you are this little innocent squeaky-clean girl that they know from that super famous TV show.

To some degree, that constant correlation was a bit of prison for Susan. She didn't feel like she was very connected to the character she played on screen and people were constantly coming up to her and wanting to talk about it. It's bound to become overwhelming at some point when people see the fictional character you played and not see the real you that you are trying to be.

She was rebellious. She liked punk rock. Susan wasn't the little Cindy that everyone remembered. Even after she grew out of her teenage angst and anti-authoritarianism. She really wanted to be seen as an artist. She was into the visual arts but she was also a talented singer.

She would learn to embrace her Brady-dom however. She knew it was the best way for her to get her foot in the door. If she really wanted to succeed at her passions and dreams then she would have to learn how to navigate the complex web of the entertainment industry. You have to know people to get ahead. It's exceptionally helpful for your pursuits when everyone already knows you.

Susan Olsen may have once resented having to be on a show that focused on family and American values, but it would become one of her proudest accomplishments later on. She developed a deep respect for the fact that the Brady's helped so many people that had relatively ineffective, toxic, or non-existent families to have a connection with something that could guide them through their formative years.
