Turkish authorities have lashed out at the French President Emmanuel Macron over a cartoon published in the magazine Charlie Hebdo mocking Turkish president Recep Tayyip Erdogan. A top aide of the Turkish President lashed out at French President Macron. ‘French President Macron’s anti-Muslim agenda is bearing fruit! Charlie Hebdo just published a series of so-called cartoons full of despicable images purportedly of our President. We condemn this most disgusting effort by this publication to spread its cultural racism and hatred’, Fahrettin Altun tweeted over the incident. Turkey is reportedly also mulling ‘legal and diplomatic actions’ against France. Tensions have been mounting between the two nations after Emmanuel Macron’s remarks on Islam over the beheading of a teacher in France for showing his class caricatures of Prophet Muhammad for a free speech class. Erdogan had led the charge against France and questioned Emmanuel Macron’s ‘mental state’ over the remarks and also called for a boycott of French goods.
