The Leaning Tower of Pisa is one of the most famous buildings in the world, a symbol of the city of Pisa. The Leaning Tower is a campanile, or cathedral bell tower, part of an ensemble consisting of a cathedral, bell tower, baptistery and cemetery.
The tower is 55 meters high and is as much as more than 4 meters deflected from the vertical, as there is a gradual landslide of the ground on which the tower was erected. At the beginning of the 20th century the deviation from the vertical was 4.3 meters, now it is already 4.6 meters.

Why is the tower in Pisa crooked?
However, construction began too early, so that the foundations began to "sit" and the tower itself to tilt. Of course, attempts were made to straighten it by lengthening the columns on one side, but ultimately the opposite effect was achieved, as the tower tilted the other way.
