In September 2020, Wild Rumpus partnered with Without Walls for a virtual symposium, which is the second in Without Walls’ Creative Lab programme. We brought together speakers both in and out of the arts sector to share radical and reflective advice, case studies and approaches to embedding sustainability into their outdoor events.

In addition to the symposium we invited a selection of artists and facilitators to explore themes of sustainability in their own practice. The residential element provided a radical and non-judgemental space to reimagine how we might address issues relating to sustainability within the sector holistically, alongside the opportunity to develop actual projects from a sustainable perspective with access to physical infrastructure and workshop facilities as desired to road-test innovative new approaches.

Supported by the expert facilitators and tailored specifically to the chosen artists’ parameters, needs and concerns, we guided the participants through a series of workshops examining and re-evaluating their current processes and systems for making sustainable choices.
