Finland has decided to apply for NATO membership amid concerns of Russia’s territorial ambitions. Finland’s foreign minister confirmed the move to the European Parliament's Foreign Affairs Committee. The decision comes amid a surge of support from Finnish citizens for NATO membership. Finland shares a 1,340km land border with Russia, one of the European Union's longest external borders.
