Forty-four-year-old Charlotte Lester of East Greenwich was last seen in May of 2022 in the Apponaug section of Warwick.
Lester's dog was found abandoned in Providence. Her truck was found a week later at Kent Hospital.
Police later went to Mark Perkins home in Warwick. Lester was known to be there at times.
Later that year, Perkins was arrested, accused of running at radio host John DePetro with a lawnmower.
Wednesday, a break in the case.
The Warwick police chief told NBC 10 News that Lester's remains were found earlier this week in Exeter.
He said testing through the medical examiner confirmed the remains were hers and that police obtained an arrest warrant for Perkins.
The police chief said Perkins has "always been the suspect” but investigators needed more evidence to go on.
