The state government today urged the Science, Technology and Innovation Ministry (Mosti) to speed up the supply of Covid-19 vaccines to Perak to enable it to enter Phase 3 of the National Recovery Plan (NRP).
Menteri Besar Datuk Saarani Mohamad said as of Wednesday, only 10.8 per cent or 311,793 individuals aged 18 and above had completed both doses, which is still far from the threshold value set at 40 per cent.
Saarani said the rate set by the National Security Council (NSC) is difficult to achieve because Perak did not receive vaccine supplies as scheduled.
He told reporters after visiting the Public-Private Partnership Covid-19 Industry Immunisation Programme (Pikas) vaccination centre at the Casuarina Meru Hotel, today.
Saarani also stressed that the state should have received a total 688,000 doses of vaccines, but only received 452,610 so far.
